No this is not the inventor of the Matthews Gravitating stopper. It is a bottler from Wisconsin. This antique bottle is embossed, "E. MATTHEWS BEAVER DAM WIS." There is an upside-down "W" on the bottom. (Just checking if you're paying attention). There is a 92 on the reverse hub suggesting SB&G CO 1892.
