4460 Cream City Glass Company star picture bottle Milwaukee, Wisconsin

This fantastic antique soda bottle is a new acquisition from Gary in February 2006. Thanks, Gary! It features a nice citron yellowish hue that is a very hard color to come by. The reverse hub is marked from CCGCO (cream city glass company). Some collectors suggested (at the Milwaukee show) that the bottle was made for the Star Bottling Works out of Milwaukee. However, the dates don't line up correctly. I'm thinking that this was a decorative blank that the company made to fill the demand for bottles. The design features a larger five-pointed star pointing upward with a smaller five pointed star in the center pointing downward inside a front slug plate. The neck on this example is crude and sunken in!
