Charles Best & Co Milwaukee Wis - 1850's!

A very early Wisconsin antique glass beer bottle in dark olive green. It is embossed on the shoulder, "CHARLES BEST & Co." It was probably made between 1848 and 1853! Charles Best built the Plank Road Brewery in 1850, which was purchased by Fred Miller in 1855 and later became the Miller Brewing Co. It's very rare and all examples I've seen are very crude. It was made about the same time as the Blossom's Badger Ale bottles but interestingly does not have a pontil mark.
