E. L. Husting Company coca-cola Milwaukee, Wisconsin
This very example sold for around $500 on eBay on August 1st, 2006. It is THE original coca-cola bottle from the Husting Company. Husting began to bottle coke fairly early around 1906. Hobble skirt bottles were not introduced until 1915. Therefore, there was a window where the Husting Company was bottling coca-cola in their own bottles. One ebayer claimed that this was the fourth bottle style ever to have contained coca-cola. It is also unusual that the embossing is vertical on the bottle. Nationwide, few coca-cola bottlers (if any) had coca-cola scripted vertically on their bottle. This was not unusual for the Husting Company, though. There are many examples of both hutchinsons and crowns with vertical text. There are at least two variants of this bottle. This example reads, "E. L. HUSTING CO. COCA-COLA MILWAUKEE, WIS." (in three lines with coca-cola scripted). There is another with content information as well. The bottle is very slender looking with sloping shoulders.
