Evolution of bottle form pre-hutch to hutch

These three bottles (partially) show the evolution of bottle form. At left is an early pre-hutchinson type of blob-soda or mineral water bottle. This bottle was used in the 1870s and featured a long neck with sloping shoulders. The middle bottle is more transitional. The neck is smaller and the shoulders are more rounded. This bottle is an early hutchinson (around 1880). At right is the typical hutchinson style. It features much stronger shoulders with a small neck.
