Embossing on this clear blob top bottle reads, “EXCELSIOR LAGER BEER FROM VAL BLATZ BREWING CO CHICAGO.” The back of the bottle states, “THIS BOTTLE NOT TO BE SOLD.” Valentin Blatz came to America in August 1848. He immediately became a brewer, and then heard about the growing young city of Milwaukee. He moved there in 1849.
