Ferd Effinger (quart)
This Ferd Effinger embossed blob beer bottle was manufactured in Baraboo, Wisconsin by the Effinger family. It is dark brown in color and glossy, still in pristine condition. The long neck and rounded shoulders signify the typical beer-style bottle of it’s time. This bottle was manufactured at the Effinger Brewing Company located in Baraboo, Wisconsin which was founded in 1885. At the time it was one of 300 small breweries in Wisconsin, however in 1966 the brewery closed its beer brewing after sales declined. During the Prohibition in 1920, the company began brewing root beer and near-beer to avoid losing its customers. A year later, it began successfully producing and selling ice cream! In 1931, the Borden Company bought the Effinger’s family ice cream company to reconvert it back to beer production when the Prohibition ended in 1933.
