The Gateway City Bottling Works was launched in 1904 by AJ Roberge and J Desmond. The firm dealt exclusively with nonalcoholic beverages like Raspberry Champagne and Orange Nectar. The firm did a large business, shipping a huge volume out of state. The owners also owned a local pool hall and bowling alley. Guess what they sold there! Inscription reads, “GATEWAY CITY BOTTLING WORKS LA CROSSE, WIS.”
