Gunther & Berns Sheboygan, Wis. (quart)
This is the only known Wisconsin stoneware bottle impressed with the potters mark. It is stamped "GUNTHER & BERNS SHEBOYGAN, WIS." in an oval. Who knows why some bottles occasionally show up with Albany slip on the outside as well as the inside. They are occasional - this being the first Albany G&B I've seen. Maybe some slip got splashed on the outside when glazing the interior so they dunked it to cover the mess. It could have been special order for a particular product, such as ale vs. lager or root beer vs. lemon beer. This one sold on eBay back in 2009 for $710.
