Hutchinson Spring Stopper

Although this stopper may look new, it is an original. I just cleaned it up sparkling. It shows a single piece of wire bent into an 'hourglass' shape. The original rubber is still in place (between two welded metal washers). This example measures about 2 inches tall with a 7/8 inch wide piece of rubber. Some stoppers, especially early transitional ones, were longer. They also can have stamped debossing on the bottom. This example has patent information but I have seen "W. H. & S." among other things. This is the spring stopper that has given us the name Hutchinson.
