In 1893, he served as Beaver Dam’s Grand Noble of the Independent Order of Odd fellows to promote personal and social development. One early mentions of J. Hannemann is an 1896 newspaper article announcing the marriage his daughter Anna. The ceremony was performed in the bride’s Beaver Dam home.
