John Graf 'shortie' crowns Milwaukee, Wisconsin
John Graf has to be the most prolific bottler from Wisconsin in terms the the variety of different bottles that he produced in nearly every category. These little 'shortie' crowns (about 7 inches tall) come in several variants. You can almost see the evolution of form from left to right. At left the bottle looks like the common hutchinson soda bottle with the same "THE BEST WHAT GIVES" arched trademark on the back. The center bottle was probably re-cut to the mold to add the word "CO." on the front (post 1914). Finally, at right, the bottle takes on more pizzazz with scripted writing and the trademark on the front. All three bottles have a mug base with eight facets (pointing downward).
