New Ulm pitcher attributed to C. Dauffenbach
This highly decorated salt glazed pitcher is attributed to C. Dauffenbach of New Ulm. It has a molded relief decoration with a jug, eagle, urn and floral motif with handle, pouring spout and original hinged lid. The "A" in "TRADE MARK" was hand reworked to make it more eligible. It is quite possible that it was made for the Dauffenbach family. This is a fantastic piece of Midwestern stoneware and unquestionably the finest example of New Ulm stoneware I've seen or heard of. This museum quality piece is in a private collection.
