Obermann Brewing Milwaukee WI

This amber-color blob top beer bottle is beautifully embossed with the “Obermann” name in fine script. The inscription reads, “J. OBERMANN BREWING MILWAUKEE. THIS BOTTLE NOT TO BE SOLD.” The mention of not selling the bottle puts its date back further into the 1880s before pasteurization was introduced to brewing. The bottles were too expensive to sell. They were the property of the brewery. The beer was sold, the bottle was not.
